Important Functions |

Provide intensive training in advanced method of coir manufacture including extraction of fibre, spinning, bleaching, dyeing, weaving and designing etc. and to equip the coir industry with adequate trained personnel. |

A field for refresher course for middle level executives and supervisors in the industry.

|
Organise entrepreneurship/orientation training to Government officials, craft teachers, business managers and secretaries of coir co-operatives,Coir Board staff, managers/asst. managers and sales men of Coir Board Showrooms.

Conduct training programmes in collaboration with organisations like Co-operative Training College. |
|
Organise field training in rural areas to train local women artisans in spinning coir yarn on motorised ratt and manufacture of products. |

conduct test for the candidates trained in spinning coir yarn on motorised ratt by NGOs/Charitable Societies/Co-operative Societies.

This training programme is intended for supervisory staff and middle executives.
Duration of the course :1 year
Total Strength
:30 50% seats for white fibre sector 50% seats for brown fibre sector
Minimum Qualification
: A pass in PDC or + 2
Age: 18-45 years

:January every year.
Syllabus covered:-Spinning and rope making Dyeing and shade matching ,Weaving matting and carpets, Weaving mats Brush making

Artisans Training Course |

Duration of the course: 6 months
Total strength :10 candidates per batch.
Qualifications :The candidates must be literate.
Age
:18-45 years
Commencement of training : January and July every year.
Syllabus (only practical class):- Spinning and rope making,Dyeing and shade matching Weaving matting and carpet Weaving mats

Training in spinning Coir Yarn on motorised ratt/motorised traditional ratt for women under Mahila Coir Yojana
|
|
|
This training programme is intended for traditional women spinners.
|
|
Duration: 2 months for spinning on motorised ratt and 15 dayfospinning coir yarn motorised traditional ratt
Age
:18-45 years
Total strength:100 candidates per batch.
Syllabus :-Spinning different varieties of coir yarn on motorised ratt/ traditional ratt

Short term training on the application of Coirret and Pith Plus
|
|
|
This training programme is intended for trainees passed out of NCTDC, RCTDCs to make them trainers.
Duration
:15 to 30 days.
Strength:25 candidates per batch.
Qualification:Pass in SSLC plus Pass in training in spinning coir yarn on motorised ratt or Pass in PDC or+2 plus pass in Advanced Training or Artisans Training/Coir Technology course withfirst class
Trainers Training is conducted in the following areas :

Spinning coir yarn on motorised traditional ratt
Weaving mats on framesWeaving mats and matting on looms
Weaving coir geo-textiles
Stipend
:Rs.500/- per batch./per trainee.

The duration of the training will be 45 days. One month training in repair/ maintenance of motorised traditional ratt/motorised ratt/automatic spinning machine, willowing machine, semi automatic loom. 15 days in-plant training. |

Field Training in spinning coir on motorised ratt/motorised traditional ratt under Mahila Coir Yojana
|
|
|
This programme is to impart training to women spinners in spinning coir yarn on motorised ratts/motorised traditional ratts in their village.
The field training in spinning motorised ratt is arranged in rural villages with the support of NGOs/ Charitable societies/ Cooperative Societies. The NGOs etc. who can provide necessary infrastructure facility to install minimum 10 Nos. of motorised ratt can approach Coir Board to start a field training centre. The NGO can engage a trainer from the list of candidates who passed the Trainers Training Programme conducted by Coir Board at NCT&DC. The NGO should pay honorarium to the trainer thus engaged at the rate of Rs.3,000/- per month. The trainers honorarium @ Rs.3000/- per month will be reimbursed to the NGO. The trainees who pass the test are eligible for the benefits under Mahila Coir Yojana. The trainees will be given stipend @ Rs.500/- per month by the Board. The NGOs etc. who can provide necessary infrastructure along with necessary number of motorised ratts and raw material, the Board will set up the field training immediately. Duration of training : 2 months

| All training except the short term training on the application of Coirret and Pith Plus are stipendiary courses. The trainees are eligible for stipend @ Rs.500/- per month |
| 20% seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates |
|
The women trainees are given hostel facilities available at NCTDC, Kalavoor.
|
Eligblity for admission for Training |
| Candidates sponsored by Coir cooperative societies, State Governments/Union territories and coir industrial establishments registered with Coir Board are eligible for admission. |
